Alvimedica Vascular Research B.V has been established in the Netherlands for R&D activities and studies only. We would like to introduce our new valuable and experienced team members who recently joined our new R&D company.

Bart-Jan Korteling is a product development professional with broad experiences in the development of innovative medical applications and advanced concepts. He has a background of over 20 years experience in the medical device industry and has held various R&D engineering and management positions covering the complete R&D and product development spectrum from concept to marketing within international operating companies like Cordis and Biosense Webster - the most recent start-up company in Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics.
As from July 1st, 2011 Bart-Jan will be holding the position of General Manager of Alvimedica Vascular Research B.V. in the Netherlands as well as heading its R&D activities.
Bart-Jan Korteling holds a BSc Mechanical Engineering degree from Utrecht University.
Wim de Vrij has been employed for more than 20 years in various medical device and biotechnology industries, during which time he has held management positions in Research & Development, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. For most of his career he has held Quality Management positions in the medical device Industry in both R&D and Manufacturing environments. These industries include: Cordis Corporation (a Johnson &Johnson affiliate), Pharmacia & UpJohn, MCA Development, IQ Corporation and PendraCare.
He has worked with a variety of product categories such as in-vitro and in-vivo diagnostics, intra-ocular lens and Baerveldt implants, cardio- and endo-vascular balloon-, diagnostic-, guiding-catheters, stent delivery systems and thrombus management systems (vena cava filters).
As from June 1st, 2011 he will be holding the position of Director Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at Alvimedica Vascular Research B.V. in the Netherlands.
Wim de Vrij holds a PhD degree in Molecular Biology and a MSc in Bio-Chemistry from the State-University of Groningen in the Netherlands where he also completed a three-year postdoctoral program and led a research group in the Molecular Microbiology Department. He is also a certified LRQA lead–auditor.
Jan Thalens has 17 years experience in the medical device industry and has held various management positions in New Product Development, Project- & Program Management, Process Engineering and Strategic Operations. In these roles Jan has been responsible for New Product and Process Introductions, Manufacturing Transfers and Manufacturing Strategies for Endovascular, Cardiovascular and Ophthalmic products within international operating companies like Cordis (a Johnson & Johnson company) and Abbott.
As from July 1st, 2011 Jan will be holding the position of Director of Process Engineering at Alvimedica Vascular Research B.V. in the Netherlands.
Jan Thalens holds a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the HanzeHogeschool in Groningen.
