Distributor Portrait: Nipro Medical

Alvimedica signed an exclusive distribution contract with Miami-based Nipro Medical in November 2009. Once completing various registration procedures, Nipro will sell Alvimedica’s complete interventional cardiology line in all Central and Latin American countries, with the exception of Brazil.

In the following interview with Phil Stocton, Nipro Medical Corporation's Division Manager Endovascular, will explain Nipro's history, the reason for their success in this region of the world and their approach to individual markets with the Alvimedica range.

"Phil, what makes Nipro Medical so successful?"

"Nipro Medical Corporation has over 14 offices in Central and South America with over 300 employees making over $200M in sales in this region.  Nipro currently distributes products in Interventional Cardiology and Radiology as well as Interventional Oncology in all Central and Latin American countries directly and through distributor networks.  With each office having local direct sales, local regulatory departments, local collections and warehousing in each country; this allows us to handle all aspects of the business.  With the headquarters in Miami, Florida USA we can handle the registrations, orders and payments in one location.  This strong infrastructure in  Latin America allows us to deal with customers locally in each country and deal with 6-10 month payment terms with local hospitals and Governments."

"How and when did you start working with Alvimedica?"

"We started working with NeMed from a chance meeting in PCR 3 years ago.  We have been working in 2 countries, evaluating the products as well as the company.  Now NeMed is Alvimedica and we are working together to broaden the relationship to all Central and South American countries."

"What is your goal with the Alvimedica range?"

"To make Alvimedica a well-known and successful range of products in Latin America and to enhance Nipro Medical's presence in Interventional Cardiology."

 "Which countries do you see as the main focus area?"

"The largest opportunities are in Mexico, Argentina, Chile and a combination of all Central American countries."
