CORAXEL, Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent Delivery System, has a biocompatible dual coating layer composed of an athrombogenic coating as the base layer, providing permanent protection and promoting re-endothelization, and in the above layer has a polymer matrix which is totally biodegradable and incorporated with Paclitaxel.
Paclitaxel is an anti-proliferative drug whose effectiveness is proven in reducing neointimal hyperplasia. Coraxel’s controlled drug release mechanism assures that 100% of the drug is released within the first 8-10 weeks. Coraxel has a very low drug load rate which minimizes the occurrence of adverse effects and complications. This System requires a dual antiplatelet therapy for only 6 months.
Coraxel’s design enables it to have a higher flexibility in in reaching highly tortuous vessels and has an open cell design enabling it to access the side branches easily. Coraxel has thinner struts compared to most of the contemporary drug-eluting stents.

Product Advantages
STENT MATERIAL
The main material used in this stent is 316LVM coded Stainless Steel. This material has been successfully utilized for many years as the main material in stent manufacturing and has been proven safe for human health
FLEXIBILITY
The stent is designed to provide superior flexibility in reaching areas characterized by tortuous lesion. It is more flexible than many of its contemporary counterparts
GLYCOCALYX-ENDOTHELIAL SURFACE LAYER
Electron microscopy picture of the endothelial glycocalyx. The grass-like structure is the glycocalyx; whilethe underlying layer consists of endothelial cells. The layer is permanent and promotes endothelization. The Stent has a coating that mimics arterial glycocalyx. It is athrombogenic and minimizes restenosis. Lower restenosis rates are observed compared to BMS.
POLYMER
Coraxel incorporates PLGA (Poly Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid). It is totally biodegradable and biocompatible. The byproducts of lactic acid and glycolic acid are metabolites of the natural cellular metabolism and thus are fully assimilate. Both substances are decomposed into Carbon Dioxide and water.
DRUG
The drug used is Paclitaxel (0.25 μg/mm2).
RECOIL
Low recoil rate ensures accuracy in reaching the target nominal lesion diameter while it decreasing restenosis rates
HOMOGENEOUS STENT EXPANSION
The design of Coraxel stent provides a homogeneous expansion which results in optimum vessel coverage Coraxel is a very flexible SDS (Stent Delivery System). The stent has a broad indication, including bifurcation lesions and chronic occlusions.
MINIMAL FORESHORTING
Minimally foreshortened stent provides an appropriate and accurate placement which helps cover the lesion length precisely.
HIGH QUALITY ELECTRO POLISHING
High quality polishing of the stent decreases the potential risk rate of thrombosis and restenosis.

Low Drug Dose Comparison*

- Especially drugs of the Limus family and Paclitaxel show variation on smooth muscle proliferation depending on the strength of the drug and the mechanism.
- * Drug loads are indicated in the IFU’s of the related product.
